Bringing Nanay to Dubai: How to Avoid Offloading at the Airport
A simple guide for OFWs in the UAE: the papers your parents need at NAIA, when an affidavit of support helps, and how to keep every detail matching.
You have worked hard in the UAE. This Christmas, you want Nanay and Tatay to see your life here, the city lights, your apartment, your friends. The visa is the easy part. The harder part can be the immigration counter in Manila, where travellers are sometimes offloaded, meaning they are not allowed to board.
The good news: most offloading stories come from papers or answers that do not match. This guide shows you how to make everything match, simply.
What immigration checks, in one sentence
The Bureau of Immigration wants to be sure the traveller is a real tourist, not a victim of trafficking or illegal recruitment. Every paper and every answer is checked against that one question.
The papers, simply

Under the departure guidelines in force since September 2023, a departing tourist usually needs a passport valid for at least 6 months, the UAE visit visa, a boarding pass, and a return ticket when asked. The Department of Justice said more than 95% of departing Filipinos need nothing beyond these basics.
When you are the sponsor, the officer may ask about you. Keep a copy of your passport and UAE residence, proof of your work in the UAE, and a notarised affidavit of support and guarantee stating the trip is for tourism and your parent will return. A folder that is ready costs nothing. A missed flight costs a lot.
The matching rule

Imagine Nanay is asked how long she will stay. She says three months, but her visa is for 30 days. That one answer creates doubt, even if every paper is real. Bakasyon ay bakasyon. If the plan is to look for work, that needs a different visa and a different process.
Three things to avoid
Fixers with a sure pass
No one can promise that at immigration.
Personal account payments
Pay only a registered company for a visa.
Coached answers
Officers are trained to notice answers that are not true.
After they land: watch the visa end date
The UAE charges AED 50 per person for every day of overstay. Save the expiry date on your phone the day the visa arrives. Our overstay guide explains more.

Frequently asked questions
Does my mother need an affidavit of support? Not always. Tourists usually show only the basic papers. If you are paying for the trip, having a notarised affidavit ready is the safer choice.
Can Rambelz stop my parent from being offloaded? No company can promise that. Departure decisions belong to the Bureau of Immigration. We help you prepare a UAE visa and papers that match.
