UK visit visa from the UAE: how it works
Most UAE residents who are not GCC nationals need a UK Standard Visitor visa for tourism, family visits or short business trips. You apply online on the UK government website, pay the visa fee, then give your fingerprints and photo at the UK visa application centre run by VFS Global in Dubai or Abu Dhabi. Your passport is returned with the decision.
GCC nationals (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Oman) do not need a visit visa. They apply for a UK Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) online instead.
UK visa fees and processing time
- Standard Visitor visa (up to 6 months): £135 government fee, from 8 April 2026.
- Long-term visit visas: £506 for 2 years, £903 for 5 years, £1,128 for 10 years.
- Standard processing: usually about 3 weeks after your biometrics appointment, longer in summer.
- Priority (£500) and Super Priority (£1,000) are offered at extra cost when available.
Fees are set by UK Visas and Immigration and can change. We confirm the current amount before you pay.
