Switzerland Schengen visa from the UAE
Switzerland is part of the Schengen area, so most UAE residents who are not GCC nationals need a Schengen short-stay visa to visit. It allows up to 90 days in any 180-day period across the Schengen countries. You apply at the visa centre appointed by the Swiss embassy, give your fingerprints and photo, and your passport is returned with the decision.
Key Schengen rules
- Apply up to 6 months before travel and no later than 15 days before.
- Apply to Switzerland if it is your main destination, or your first entry if your time is split equally.
- Travel medical insurance with at least EUR 30,000 cover is required for the whole trip.
- Your UAE residence visa should stay valid for at least 3 months after you return.
Documents for a Swiss visa from Dubai
- Passport issued in the last 10 years, valid for at least 3 months after you leave the Schengen area, with 2 blank pages
- UAE residence visa and Emirates ID
- Bank statements for the last 3 to 6 months and a salary certificate or employment letter
- Hotel bookings and a day-by-day travel plan
- Flight reservation and travel insurance
- An NOC from your employer, or a trade licence if you own a business
