Sweden Schengen visa from the UAE
Sweden is in the Schengen area. Most UAE residents who are not GCC nationals need a Schengen short-stay visa to visit, valid for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. You apply at the visa centre appointed by the Swedish embassy, give your fingerprints and photo, and collect your passport with the decision.
Key Schengen rules
- Apply up to 6 months before travel and no later than 15 days before.
- Apply to Sweden if it is your main destination, or your first entry if your time is split equally.
- Travel medical insurance with at least EUR 30,000 cover is required.
- Visiting family? An invitation letter and a copy of your host's ID or residence permit helps your case.

- Passport issued in the last 10 years, valid for at least 3 months after your return, with 2 blank pages
- UAE residence visa and Emirates ID
- Bank statements for the last 3 to 6 months
- Salary certificate, NOC or trade licence
- Hotel booking or invitation letter, and flight reservation
- Travel insurance for the full trip
