Vietnam e-Visa: the key facts
Since August 2023, Vietnam issues e-Visas to citizens of all countries. The e-Visa allows a stay of up to 90 days, with a single or multiple entry, for tourism, family visits or business. It is applied for online and arrives as a PDF that you print and carry.
What you need
- Passport valid for at least 6 months from your entry date, with a blank page
- A recent passport-style photo on a white background
- A clear scan of your passport bio page
- Your planned entry date and the airport or border crossing you will use
Tips for a smooth trip
- Enter through the port you named on your e-Visa where possible.
- Check that your name, passport number and dates are correct on the e-Visa before you fly.
- Apply at least a week before travel, longer before Tet (Vietnamese New Year).
When to visit
Vietnam is long, so the weather changes by region. The north, including Hanoi and Halong Bay, is cooler and drier from about October to April. The south, including Ho Chi Minh City and the Mekong Delta, is driest from about December to April.
