Frequently asked questions
Is the Colombia visa fully online?
Yes. The Colombia visitor visa (type V, tourism) is an electronic visa issued by the Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Cancillería). You do not visit an embassy. The approved visa is sent to you as a PDF.
How does the Colombia visa fee work?
Colombia charges two government fees: a study fee when the application is submitted, and an issuance fee only after approval. Rambelz includes both in one price, so you pay once and we pay the government at each stage.
What if my Colombia visa is not approved?
The study fee is kept by the Colombian government even if the visa is refused. If your visa is refused, the issuance fee is not paid and Rambelz refunds that part to you. After a refusal, Colombia does not accept a new visa application from you for 6 months.
How long does the Colombia visa take?
Plan for 15 to 30 days. The Cancillería review itself can be about 5 working days, but it often takes longer, and if it asks for more documents the review restarts and can reach 30 calendar days. You must answer a document request within 10 days, so apply at least one month before you travel.
How long can I stay in Colombia?
The visitor visa allows a stay of up to 90 days per visit, within the validity set by the Cancillería, which can be up to 1 year.
What documents do I need for the Colombia visa?
Your passport bio page, a new photo on a white background, the residence visa of the country you live in, a 6 month stamped bank statement, an employment letter dated within 30 days and a short questionnaire. Rambelz prepares the flight and hotel bookings, travel insurance and the trip letter.
Do I need anything before I fly to Colombia?
Yes. Fill in the Check-MIG migration form online 1 to 72 hours before each flight to and from Colombia.
